William D. Kern Jr.

William D. Kern Jr., 70, of Findlay, Ohio passed away at 5:07am Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. He was born to William D. Sr. and Marjorie (Tyson) Kern on September 21, 1952, in Camp Atterbury Indiana. His father survives in Deshler, Ohio and his mother preceded him in death. William married Ruth Ann Smith then they divorced and she preceded him in death. He later married Dawn Peters and they divorced.  He is survived by his significant other Laurel Frederick.

William is also survived by his daughter; Kristina (Chad) Monday of Findlay; sons, Bill Kern of Fostoria and Cody Peters of Findlay; brother James (Robin) Kern of Weston; sisters Becky (Harry) Smith of Deshler and Beverly Kern of North Baltimore; granddaughters, Faith Kern, Monica Kern, and Alicia (Anthony) Mora; as well as eight great grandchildren.   

Besides his mother, William is preceded in death by his daughter; Jamie Adeline Kern Peters, sister; Debra Sebring, and brother; Robert Kern.

William worked for Deshler Municipal Utilities running wire before moving to Florida, where he was a hotel engineer for many years. His favorite job was being a truck driver. He was an active member of the Findlay V.F.W. and enjoyed listening to music.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday May 27, 2023, beginning at 6PM at the Findlay V.F.W. Post 5645, 315 Walnut Street, Findlay Ohio 45840.

A Celebration of Life will be held at his son Bill Kern’s Pond at a later date.
