William Brenner Obituary

William "Bill" Brenner, 66, of Findlay, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at Birchaven Village. He was born on June 14, 1955 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Clela (Biehler) Brenner.Bill is survived by older brothers Jim (Linda) Brenner of Algood, Tennessee and Bob Brenner (Becky Dinsmore) of Manitowish Waters, Wisconsin. Bill's first experience in school was a special program for handicapped children at the Presbyterian Church in Findlay. Later, he attended the Blanchard Valley School from which he graduated in 1975. Bill was an active participant in many Blanchard Valley school programs, holiday activities, picnics, and dances, which he particularly enjoyed. Bill then went to work at Blanchard Valley Industries, followed by working at a McDonalds restaurant for five years. Bill also volunteered at the Salvation Army.Bill lived with his family in Findlay and later resided in several area group homes. He eventually moved to Birchaven Center where he appreciated the caring and friendship of staff. He lived at Birchaven until his death.Bill was an active participant in many area events and organizations. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #350. He attended Camp Berry Boy Scout summer camp over many years and was awarded several merit badges. Bill also enjoyed the Special Olympics. He received a number of ribbons and trophies for softball throwing and other events, which he proudly displayed in his room. Bill also took swimming lessons at the YMCA where he mastered the backstroke.He loved animals, was a great fan of jigsaw puzzles, and enjoyed country music singers including George Strait, Loretta Lynn and Roy Clark. Bill was also a great sports enthusiast. He most enjoyed attending Findlay High School Trojan football games and watching the half-time show put on by the marching band. Bill rarely missed a game over the years and could recite the game winners and losers each season. Bill was also a great supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes and had a signed photo of coach Woody Hayes on his bedroom wall. Bill was NOT a Michigan fan.Bill attended the Calvary Baptist Church for many years where he was a bell choir member. He enjoyed the camaraderie of new friends and being part of a team. Simply put, Bill loved people. He had a very gregarious, infectious, kind, and giving personality and won over many, many friends over the years. A short visit with Bill was likely to leave you with a smile on your face and a story to tell. He is already greatly missed.Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. EDST on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDST on Saturday, October 30, at the funeral home with the Rev. Gordon Dickson offciating, and will be live streamed on the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home facebook page .
