Robert A. Irons, 72, of Findlay, passed away peacefully Thursday, Dec. 7th, 2023.
He was born February 19, 1951 to parents Earl and Laverne (Michell) Irons, in Warrensville Heights.
Bob, as he was affectionately known to his friends and family, graduated from Findlay High School, class of 1969 then enrolled in the Ohio Army National Guard. He married Sharon (Erickson) Irons of New London on June 15, 1974 and completed a Bachelor of Business at Tiffin University.
After graduation, he started his career in sales, then opened his own business, Magic Auto Glass in 1984 in Findlay. He was a model train enthusiast, enjoyed skeet shooting and working with his hands. Bob was a staple patron at all his girls' activities, chauffeuring them to out of town events and volunteering his time to support the organizations in any way possible.
Once retired, he fulfilled his wish of owning a motorhome, camping with family and teaching all his grandkids how to fish. He loved tailgating at Buckeye football games annually and supporting all his grandkids activities whenever possible. Bob also made time to join the Findlay American Legion - Post 3 and served as financial officer for several years.
Robert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon and their two children, Heidi (Matt) Thompson of Beavercreek and Lindsey (Brian) Hooper of Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Madison, Connor, Alexis, Evan and Quinn; brothers Richard Irons of Engadine and Jim Irons of Perrysburg. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay. Additional visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00pm at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 109 East Lincoln Street, Findlay, officiated by Rev. Tucker O’Leary n/OLF. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay with military rites performed by the Hancock Veteran’s Memorial Squad.
