Richard E. Woodruff Jr.

Richard E. Woodruff, Jr., 79, of Carey, Ohio died at 4:47AM on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the Blanchard Valley Hospital. Richard was born on July 9, 1942 in Findlay to the late Richard E. and Margie A. (McClish) Woodruff. He married Rebecca "Becky" Ward and she survives him. Also surviving are two daughters: Leah Vantrease of Carey, Ohio and Danielle (Jay) Carmack of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren: Joy (Buck/Matt) Thomas, Jesse (Stephanie) Sczublewski, Alec Vantrease, Joshua (Susie) Vantrease, and Aaron Vantrease; and four great-grandchildren: Ezekiel, Cheyenne, Andrew, and Evelyn Grace; and brother-in-law, David Thompson.Dick was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanie Sczublewski, and a sister, Cathie Thompson.Dick graduated from Cory-Rawson High School with the Class of 1960 with lettering in football. He was employed thirty-five years and retired from Hercules Tire & Rubber Company while also being the owner and operator of his own rubbish route. Dick's love and personal relationship with the Lord led him to become a member of Hope Temple, where he was involved with the choir, and then became a member of the Upper Room Church of God.In his pastime he loved to bowl as a member of the Hercules Bowling League. Dick also loved sports, football being his favorite, with The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs being his favorite teams. He also enjoyed many hunting trips and riding and taking care of horses in his spare time. A private funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Kirkpatrick Behnke Funeral Home with Kenneth McBeath officiating.
