Richard Eugene Weitz

Richard E. Weitz, age 96 of Ottawa and formerly of Findlay, passed away at 11:22 p.m. at the Meadows of Leipsic on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Richard was born to the late Albert and Inez (Foard) Weitz on November 12, 1924 in Findlay, Ohio. He was married to Marjorie Ann McClain on May 20, 1950. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2004. Richard and Marjorie were parents to two daughters, Patty A. (William D.) Smith of Minerva, OH and Robin S. (Ronald I.) Hovest of Ottawa, OH, who both survive, along with grandchildren Bryan (Tricia) Smith, Tara (Jeremy) Northam, Hillary Shearer, Molly (Ben) Rippetoe, and Ronald Hovest, Jr.; and ten great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by brothers Frederick, Francis, and Donald Weitz, and his sister, Betty Fellers.Richard worked at Centrex Corporation, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Good Shepherd of the Deaf Lutheran Church and the Lima Silent Aid Society. Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, May 24, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home with Pastor Shirrel Petzoldt officiating.Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Portage Twp., Hancock County.
