Ricardo Sanchez

Ricardo “Rick” Sanchez, 64, of Findlay, Ohio passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at the University of Toledo Medical Center, in Toledo, Ohio after losing his battle with cancer. He was born in Findlay on February 10, 1959, to the late Matias and Maria R (Martinez) Sanchez. Ricardo married Irma “Joann” McDonald and they were divorced. He later married Cathy Hughes, on August 26, 2006, and she preceded him in death on August 12, 2021.

He is survived by a son; Ricardo S. Sanchez, one grandson; Lorenzo S. Sanchez, a sister; Adelita (Edward) Flores of Findlay, Ohio, and four brothers; Arnie (Deborah Kenner) Sanchez of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Jesus (Robyn) Sanchez of Fostoria, Ohio, Rafael Sanchez of Findlay, Ohio, and Rene (Doreen) Sanchez of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his brother John A. Sanchez of El Monte, California.

Ricardo worked at the Cooper Tire & Rubber Company as a tire builder and material handler until he retired in 2014. After retirement, he worked as a service porter at LaRiche Chevrolet-Cadillac in Findlay, Ohio, shuttling customers while they waited for vehicle maintenance.

He was a St. Michael the Archangel Church in Findlay, Ohio member. He also belonged to the Mount Blanchard Gun Club where he was well-liked. Ricardo enjoyed listening and dancing to Mexican music, gardening, repairing small engines, and cooking. His friends and family loved to eat his famous chili when the weather was cold. Ricardo was an avid Cleveland “Indians” fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, who brought him happiness. The two worked in the yard and shot guns together. He also enjoyed a cold beer after work. Ricardo spent his free time with loved ones, including his late wife Cathy who he loved and cherished.

Visitation will be held for family and friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio with a rosary service beginning at 7:45 p.m. that evening. A Mass of Catholic burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church East, 750 Bright Road, Findlay, Ohio. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
