Jeremiah 29:11 NLTNorman Ray Bucher, 83, of Findlay went home to the Lord at 3:15 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022. The family offers their gratefulness for the special care given to Norman at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, and hospice, in his last days. He was born on July 24, 1938 in Lima, Ohio to the late Vernon and Mary (Lugibihl) Bucher. Norman and the love of his life, Mary Ann Slusser, met on a blind date set up by his sister, Delores. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on November 6, 2018. He claimed Jeremiah 29:11 as important cornerstone truth in his life, and has left an unmatched legacy of faithfulness to the Lord as the patriarch of his family. He is survived by his children, Lisa (Steve) Waaland of Manistee, Michigan, Jeff Bucher of Elida, Ohio and Jim (Megan) Bucher of Sandusky, Ohio; four grandchildren, Andrew Waaland of St. Matthews, Kentucky, Matthew Waaland of New York, New York, Brianne Bucher and Lauren Bucher, both of Sandusky, Ohio, and a sister, Delores Warmuth, of Lima, OH. He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, James Warmuth of Lima, OH. A 1956 graduate of Pandora-Gilboa High School, Norman served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to1962, and was then employed by Dow Chemical as an Operating Technician. Norman was a member of the Boys Scouts and served on the committee for a time. An active member of the West Independence United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Faithful Followers Sunday School Class. Norman and Mary Ann passed down their passion for Northern Michigan, vacationing annually with family "Up North." He was an avid OSU fan, and loved Amish country, wood working, fishing, spending time in the woods, and picnics. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio, immediately followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Ben Wallick officiating and Rev. Richard Bucher assisting. Burial service will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora, Ohio. Reception will follow at Grace Mennonite Church in Pandora, OH.
