NANCY M. SMITHNancy Mae Smith, age 85 of Findlay, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 12:10 p.m. at Brookdale Senior Living in Bowling Green, Ohio. Nancy was born on September 28, 1935 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late William P. and Mary (Lenneman) Spanogle. On September 12, 1959 she was married to the love of her life, Bernard W. Smith, who preceded her in death on May 20, 2009. Nancy graduated in 1953 from Findlay High School and from St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing in Toledo in 1956. She was a devoted nurse for many years at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She worked as a surgery nurse, and in the latter years of her career she worked directly for specialized surgery. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth P. Smith of Canton, MI and Michael B. (Doris) Smith of Findlay, OH. The joys of her life were her three grandsons- Matthew J. Smith of Worthington, OH, Bryan M. (Roxanne) Smith of Findlay, OH, and Andrew B. Smith of Findlay, OH, as well as two great grandchildren, Sosie Wren Smith and Sawyer Jack Smith. Also surviving is a brother Robert W. (Ruth) Spanogle of Indianapolis, IN, and many nieces and nephews. Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters, Joyce A. Harcus and Sandra L. Malone. Nancy's favorite hobby was gardening. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Findlay. She was a former member of the Ralph D. Cole Post #3 American Legion Auxiliary. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, with Rosary being prayed at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, downtown location on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Monsignor Michael Hohenbrink celebrant. Due to COVID-19 concerns, masks should be worn by those attending visitation and the service, and social distancing should be practiced. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
