Michael Samuel Lee Siferd

Michael Samuel Lee Siferd aka “Dead Mike”, born April 3, 1977 to Roger and Judy Siferd, has passed on to his next “Great Gig in the Sky.”

Mike presented to this world in a large way, being the largest of all Judy’s babies, weighing in at over 10 pounds. Judy never hesitated to tell anyone that she had always wanted 4 children, but Mike’s birth weight had changed all of that.

To know Mike was to love him. He never knew a stranger and could always manage to make anyone laugh, even on their darkest days. He had incredible wit, undeniable charm, and was deeply loved by all who knew him. Mike also loved fiercely. If Mike claimed you as one of his own, you never knew anything but love, and often referred to his most treasured humans as “kid”.

Mike’s love for others was taught and always cultivated by his mother and father. Roger and Judy’s love for their children shone through in all they did. Each of their children was given a strong moral compass, kindness to anyone who crossed their path, and a wicked sense of humor. Roger frequently bragged on his children out of sheer pride for what kind of adults they had become. You could always find Judy smiling in an unforgettable way as she watched her adult children interact. Those moments were her absolute favorite.

Mike is survived by his beloved older brother Jon (Jennifer) Siferd and his sister and best friend Amy (Dan) Hosey. Additionally, he is survived by his “brothers from another mother”, Tom Siferd and Dave Kent. Mike was preceded in death by both his parents, Roger and Judy Siferd. Mike is also survived by his his dearly loved nieces and nephews; Shaylee (Ethan) Dearsman, Emily Siferd, Dylan (Becca) Haynes, Onyx Haynes, Anthony Iriti III and great niece and nephew, Vayda and Beckett Dearsman. Uncle Mike never failed to make his nieces and nephews laugh hysterically, and each of them has memories to make them smile the rest of their lives. Mike is also survived by Aunts and Uncles as well as several cousins and by his treasured dog, Casey.

Mike worked for Cooper Tire and Rubber company for 17 years and considered his long time co-workers like family, and we are so grateful for them.

Mike loved The Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, any and all comedy shows, and could quote you a litany of movies. He would call any of us and be mid laughter when you picked up the phone because he had just seen something hilarious and needed to share it immediately. Half the time, you couldn’t understand what he was even saying because he was laughing so hard. Mike took great delight in making others laugh. It was not uncommon for Mike to quote Hulk Hogan or The Princess Bride on any occasion where he could work it into a conversation.

Mike also loved a good game of pool and could frequently be found shooting at numerous establishments throughout Findlay.

Any one of us could immediately tell you the funniest thing we ever heard Mike say or the funniest thing we ever saw him do. He was constantly cracking jokes and always had the best stories. Listening to him recall stories about all of his friends and they trouble they would get into was an amazing past time for all of us. Mike loved his friends more than anything, and he would do anything for any of them.

Mike always made sure to make everyone around him feel comfortable and seen. He was quick to offer a “hello” or a hug and he genuinely cared when he asked you how you were. He was always invested in what his family or friends had to say and it was evident in all exchanges. Music was Mike’s love language and he would often send family and friends clips of a live show that he currently couldn’t get enough of. Even the day before his untimely death, he sent his brother Jon a hysterical video clip. Mike delighted in randomly sending his friends and family one phrase of something that only the two of you would understand.

Mike will be missed in a way that cannot even be quantified. Our hearts are broken as we try to navigate our new normal without him. One thing is for sure. We will never not smile when we think of Mike.

The Grateful Dead said it best, so we can’t think of a better way to pay tribute. The most beautiful way to say goodbye is with a line from one of Mike’s favorite songs, “Stella Blue”. “It all rolls into one, and nothing comes for free. There’s nothing you can hold for very long. And when you hear that song come crying like the wind, it seems like all this life was just a dream.”

Per Mike’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no visitation. A celebration of life will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Elk's Lodge, 900 West Melrose Avenue to give everyone time to make sure we can all be together to tell our most favorite stories.
