Mearl C. May

Mearl C. May, 91, of Fostoria, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 4, 2025 at 5:16 p.m. Mearl passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center – Findlay.

Mearl was born on March 25, 1934 to the late William F. and Minnie (Worthington) May of Findlay.

Mearl married Beverly A. Smith of Hoytville, Ohio on May 6, 1956 and she preceded him in death on May 8, 2021.

Surviving are children, James G. (Lisa) May of North Baltimore, Ohio; Michael H. (Denise) May of McComb, Ohio; and Winona G. (Allen) Minton of Fostoria, Ohio. Siblings; Norma Eaton of Findlay, Ohio and Shirley Woods of Findlay, Ohio; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great-great grandson.

He was preceded in death by sons Mearl F. May of Louisiana and Roger A. May of Findlay, OH; brothers – William, Glen, and Porter May and sisters, Stella May, Eileen May,  Georgia Willford, and Treva Routzon all of Findlay, Ohio.

Mearl served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked and retired from the Department of Corrections for the State of Ohio as a Correctional Captain.

Mearl was an active member for 20+ years of Cornerstone Baptist Church – Findlay.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave., Findlay, Ohio and from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, April 10. 

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home with Pastor Walt Sheppard officiating.  Burial will follow at McComb Union Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.

Memorials are suggested in Mearl’s name to the Cornerstone Baptist Church, 8360 C.R. 140, Findlay, Ohio 45840.
