Maurice E. Schütz, 92 of Findlay, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 7, 2022 at his residence. Maurie was born on July 11, 1929 in Bluffton, OH, to the late Edward and Estella (Hilty) Schütz. On October 24, 1954, Maurie married Sue Hartigan at the First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Findlay, and she survives. Also surviving are his five children, Patti (Rich) Steiner of Findlay; Debbie (Brad) Reddick of Perrysburg, Ohio; Bob (Betsy) Schütz of Bluffton, Ohio; Connie (Mark) Misamore of Findlay; and Jim Schütz of Findlay; 37 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and sibling Arthur Schütz of Elmhurst, Illinois. He was preceded in death by sisters, Sara Jane Balmer, Ann Newcomer, Mary Kathryn Amstutz and brother, Oliver Schütz. Maurie graduated from Pandora High School and went on to receive his BA in business administration from Otterbein College. He was class president during his freshman, sophomore and senior years and was active in the men's chorus. He served in the US Army as a tank operator during the Korean War. Maurie was president of Financial and Risk Management in Findlay and recently retired in October 2021.He was a faithful blood donor, giving over 55 gallons, and was a recipient of the Red Cross Clara Barton Award and recognized as one of Hancock County's Everyday Heroes. He encouraged those who were blessed with good health to donate blood for the benefit of others. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Red Cross.Maurie and Sue served as mentors for young people as they taught Sunday School classes for singles and young married couples for over 30 years at St. Marks U. M. Church. He was active in the church choir for many years and served in various leadership positions. Currently, he was a member of Living Hope Church. He was an avid Ohio State fan and looked forward to every football season to watch games with family. He cherished being at any of his grandchildren's events and always told them how very proud he was of them. Maurie is well remembered for his infectious smile, his firm handshake, and his love for people, but mostly for the ways he represented Jesus in his daily life. He desired that all come to know and love Jesus as their Lord and Savior. He always saw the best in people and was generous with all that God had blessed him with. Other than his relationship with Jesus, his family was his greatest primary purpose. He loved his family dearly and was their greatest prayer warrior. Maurie adored his wife Sue, his college sweetheart, telling her daily how special she was to him. He was a Biblical example of a husband, putting his wife first and above his needs, as he had committed to doing when they were married 67 years ago. He always complimented her on her beauty and cherished every moment with her. His children and grandchildren always said that it was so easy to see God as a kind, loving, gracious, merciful Heavenly Father because of the incredible example of their earthly father and grandfather. "In your eyes we have seen God's love, in your words we have heard his wisdom, through your life we have found His grace."Visitation for family and friends will be held at Living Hope Church, 2515 Heatherwood Dr., Findlay, Ohio 45840 from 10am - 12pm on Saturday, February 19.
