Peggy, along with her husband Jack, were devout and life-long practicing Catholics. Peggy’s efforts reflected her faith tenants of service to God through service to others. She endeavored to bring those around her home to God with her. A balance of joy and discipline is reflected in her patient care, her teaching of others, and her volunteer efforts. Singing accompanied her efforts through much of her life, teaching her children and leading others in worship. Her compassion extended through her efforts to comfort others in their own bereavement and physical struggles, walking the journey of life with those suffering loss of loved ones, coordinating efforts of others in St. Michael the Archangel parish in that work, even extending both physical and emotional care to others through missions abroad. Her deep faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist led her to serving others through the distribution of the Holy Eucharist to her parish in liturgical celebrations and to those home-bound with infirmaries, there combining all of her heart’s service of feeding physically, emotionally, and spiritually the needs of others. Scripture was her constant companion, nourishing herself with the Gospel, then passing it on with her husband to their children and family and returning to it constantly with others through study to fully refresh themselves with scripture’s daily bread. Her example continued through her last years and even her final hours as she taught through example how to marry her pain and suffering to that of Christ’s on the cross and offering all of her suffering for the sake of our souls.
