M. Woodward Obituary

M. Jean Woodward, 90, was called Home to be with the Lord at 10:42pm, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay, Ohio. Jean was born on August 25, 1932 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Pearl Jay and Fern (Lawrence) Woodward. Jean was preceded in death by her only sibling, Robert Jay (Anna) Woodward Sr., and her nephew, Glenn Woodward.

She is survived by her beloved nephew Robert (Connie) Woodward; great nieces Tracey King and Tiffany (Erik) Thompson and six great great nieces and nephews who were the “apples of her eye”, as well as her very dear friends Karen Frost and Kathi Lyons, who Jean thought of as her “sisters”, and so many others whose friendship Jean cherished.

Jean was a 1950 graduate of Findlay High School, and began her career in the banking industry upon graduation. She worked in various capacities at the First National Bank and then later at the Fifth-Third Bank, both of Findlay. She retired in 1994, after 44 years of diligent service.

Jean loved the Lord dearly and served Him with all her heart. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church until her passing. There Jean enjoyed singing in the adult choir for many years and was an enthusiastic participant in the Bible study group. She was a part of the visiting ministry for shut-ins and always celebrated her church family and friends, by sending them cards on special occasions. She also taught Sunday School and served as church clerk. In her younger years, Jean shared God’s Word visiting a mission in Japan. For her family, she crocheted treasured afghans for each member, a special hug from their Aunt Jean. She was an avid Ohio State Football fan “especially when they won!”. Jean was even able to cheer their recent victory over Iowa.

When Jean became a resident at the Heritage Estates, she became involved with their Bible study group and saw her new home as her “mission field”. She was very concerned about each resident and told them about her Savior and how they could know Him as their Savior as well. She knew that was the most important decision anyone could ever make. Jean hopes to see everyone in Heaven.
