Lois J. Hart-Jordan 86, of Findlay, passed away at 10:17am on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at Birchaven Village. Lois was born on July 13, 1937 to the late Bryan D. and A. Bernette (Burrell) Wingate in Findlay, Ohio. Lois married Robert W. Hart on September 16, 1956 and he was killed on October 12, 1989 in a small plane crash. She married Earl (Buddy) Jordan on April 8, 1994 and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2007.
Lois is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Jeff) Klein of Findlay, OH, her son Thomas (Sherrie) Hart of Benton Ridge, OH, her loving friend and companion Scott E. Fenimore of Findlay, OH; his two sons Dirk (Denise) Fenimore of Rossford, OH and Jeff (Ann) Fenimore of Findlay, OH. Four grand-daughters, Tiffany (Charles) Downing of Findlay, OH, Samantha (Matt) Bowman of Brooklyn, NY, Victoria Hart of Benton Ridge, OH, Carolyn (Carly) Klein of Columbus, OH, and one great-grandson Landon Elliott. One special friend and sister-in-law Donna Wingate of Findlay, OH. She is also survived by a step-daughter, Laura (Jeffrey) Holder, 2 step-grandsons and a step-granddaughter, all in GA. She was preceded in death by her beloved brothers Dale and Harry Wingate, her sister, Nancy Bolton of Phoenix, AZ, a nephew, Douglas Wingate and niece Debra Wingate, step-son Gabriel Jordan, her sister-in-law, Sandy Wingate.
She attended the College First Church of God, Findlay, Ohio.
Lois was the 1955 valedictorian at Van Buren High School. She went to work as a messenger directly out of high school at the Ohio Oil Co. She worked 9 years and then took 9 years off to get her children into school. She returned to work in the Credit Card Dept. and became a collector, where she really found out how nasty people can be on the phone. Lois retired on May 1, 1994 as a supervisor in the Title and Contract Dept. Her 30 years at Marathon Oil Company were very happy ones.
She was talented at crocheting, cross-stitching and reading. She enjoyed for 60+ years the monthly card club with her former classmates and friends. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US, Alaska, Hawaii, Polka cruises and square and polka dancing. She was a member of the Ohio Polka Booster Club. The highlight of her traveling was being able to go to Japan, to attend her pen pal of 70+ years, Tetsuya Sugahara, daughter's wedding. She continued her travels to Germany, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Cuba. From 1996 spent winters in Florida and Texas. Since 2001-2021 she wintered with friends from Piney Point Mobile Home Park in Palmetto, FL. What she loved and enjoyed the most were the years raising her children and the many special times with her four grand-daughters.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12:00pm (noon) on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Kirkpatrick Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. The funeral will begin at noon Saturday with Rev. David Welker officiating. Burial to follow at Bechtel Cemetery, Van Buren, Ohio.
