Kathryn J. Kelly, 53, of Findlay, died at home on March 20, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends following a year-long battle with angiosarcoma. She was born March 1, 1969 in Canton, Ohio to Eileen M. Kelly and the late James "Terry" Kelly.Kathryn was a 1987 graduate of Louisville (Ohio) High School where she participated in speech and debate, theater and recreational softball. She was also a 1991 graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in journalism, and a 2001 graduate of the University of Findlay, earning her M.B.A. Upon graduation from Ohio University Kathryn moved to Findlay in 1991 and worked at The Courier, Findlay's daily newspaper, and later in the public relations and marketing department at the University of Findlay. In 2004, Kathryn transitioned into managing proposals for human capital management companies, Aon, Volt Information Services and SHPS, which was purchased by ADP in 2007. At the time of her passing, she was ADP's senior director of the global proposal consultant team.As a member of Journey at Christ Church of Findlay, Kathryn served on the church council, and led the church's capital fundraising campaign for property improvements. She was also a three-year volunteer on the board of ADAMHS, an organization that works with the community to meet the mental health and substance use treatment and recovery needs of Hancock County. Her dedication to serving the recovering community grew out of her own 20+ year recovery journey in Alcoholic's Anonymous.Kathryn is survived by her mother, Eileen M. Kelly of Granville; brother, Jarrod (Katie) of Newark; nieces and nephews, Weslee (Brittany) Kelly of Ft. Campbell, KY; Rylee (Emalee Bradley) Kelly of Newark; and Makayla Kelly of Newark; Kassie (Robby) Sexton of Newark; and Sophie Kiley of Sarasota, FL; two great-nephews, Daxton Kelly of Fort Campbell, KY and baby Bo Sexton of Newark will be born in June. She is also survived by long-time companion Carol Kaltenbach; Melissa and Abbie Smith and children, Mckenzie Finch and Isabella Turner, all of Findlay.Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave., Findlay. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022. at Journey at Christ Church, 225 W. Bigelow Ave., Findlay with Pastor Trevor Wright officiating.Kathryn and her family would like to thank the staff at the OSU James Cancer Hospital and specifically her medical team at the Sarcoma Center for wonderfully coordinated care and support. To promote cancer research, Kathryn requested to donate tissue samples to the James Cancer Research hospital with the goal of helping other families in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Journey at Christ Church and Precision Center Medicine Fund (315680) at the OSU James Cancer Hospital.
