Heaven welcomed a beloved child of God Tuesday February 7, 2023 when Karon Sue Makrancy left this earth. She had been a patient at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio. Karon was born December 20, 1942 to the late Bill and Evelyn (Vail) Hahn, in Lima, Ohio. She married Fred Makrancy on July 7, 1973 and he survives.
Karon is also survived by two sons, Fred (Pamela) Makrancy and Christopher (Kathy) Makrancy both of Findlay, and her grandchildren, Brooke Makrancy and Brock Makrancy. Karon also leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well as a very special little yorkie poo, Willie. She was preceded in death by three sisters Betty Strahm of Lima, Ohio, Joanne Coats of Findlay, Ohio and Barbara Martin of Lima, Ohio.
Karon studied music at the Sherwood Conservatory in Chicago, Illinois and under music professors at Bluffton College. She began her music career in the entertainment industry, having her own talent agent, she played the piano and organ all over Ohio. She later became involved in the corporate music world working as a staff artist for Wurlitzer Corporation doing concerts. She also served a term as the special assistant to the President of the Grinnell Music Corporation. Karon became deeply involved in church choral music. She served at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran, St. Paul’s Methodist and Grace Methodist of Carey, as their Music Director and Organist. Karon was honored to play in a Christmas celebration at the Cathedral in Carey. As a choir director, she loved all of her vocalists and saw this as her calling. Karon also acted as the Activities Director for the Judson Palmer Home.
More than anything, Karon loved being a wife, mother and grandmother. She considered her family her highest priority.
Visitation will be held at Kirkpatrick- Behnke Funeral Home 500 Lima Avenue, from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm, on Thursday, February 9, 2023. Additional visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00am at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran, 935 West Bigelow Avenue, Findlay, Ohio with a funeral service following at 10:00am on Friday, February 10, 2023 with Rev. Will Stenke officiating.
