Joan Marie (Bash) Benson

After 86 years of a well-lived life, Joan Benson died peacefully Thursday morning surrounded by her children Ann, Mark (wife Amy) and Steve.

 In crossing over, she joins her great love of 55 years, husband Sam. She leaves behind her wonderful late-in-life companion Darrell Wolfe. She left her life as she lived it, giving and receiving love. Known for her sweet and generous spirit (except when playing ping pong or cards), Joan showed up for countless people (and many dogs) in her time here.

She was a dear, steadfast friend to so many. She devoted more than 30 years of her life to being of service to the Hancock County community as an oncology nurse at Blanchard Valley Hospital. In her time there she gave enduring, remarkable, compassionate care to patients and their families.

  At the center of her life was her faith. Her life-long spiritual home was St. Michael’s parish, where she was married, baptized her children and will now attend her final mass.  In addition to her three children, Joan is survived by brothers Paul and Harry Bash, brother-in-law, Mike Benson, and five grandchildren.

 Thank you to everyone who showed up to shine all the love she put out into the world back at her in these final years.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday June 20, 2026 at St. Michael Chapel, 617 West Main Cross Street, Findlay, Ohio.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
