Jane Ann Pelton Obituary

Jane Ann Pelton, 76, of Findlay, passed away after a year and half battle with cancer, in her home on Monday, February 27, 2023. Jane Ann was born to the late C. Robert and Wanda (Weaver) Baker on June 4, 1946, in Van Wert, Ohio. She married Burr Pelton on August 31, 1968 and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage before her passing, and he survives.

 

Jane Ann is survived by two sons: Tymm (Amie) Pelton of Deshler, Ohio and Michael (Lisa) Pelton of Dodge City, Kansas, six grandchildren; Iona Grace, Thomas Edward, Grace Evelyn, Andrew David, Jonathan Robert and Emma Jane Pelton. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Baker on August 16, 1990 and by her grandson, Phineas Burr Pelton on January 8, 2003 and an unborn grandchild.

 

Jane Ann attended high school at Van Wert High School until her junior year and then graduated from Findlay High School. She began her college journey at Ohio Northern University, where she met her future husband, Burr Pelton. She then finished her degree at Fort Wayne Business College. Following college, she began work at Campbell Soup Company. Jane Ann enjoyed staying at home with her children for several years and then transitioned out of her home and worked for the Findlay Public Schools as a school secretary, completing her career with more than 20 years as the head secretary at Central Middle School in Findlay, Ohio.

 

She was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Benton Ridge, Ohio, where she was an active participant in the Share and Care Sunday School Class, Children’s Ministries, the Live Nativity Scene and other church activities.

 

Jane Ann enjoyed traveling to Charlevoix, Michigan and Dodge City, Kansas, reading mystery books (having read more than 484 books), and working jigsaw puzzles. She was a Cub Scout den mother for a number of years and enjoyed camping and watching deer.

 

Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She loved spending time with them and watching their many activities as they grew up.

 

A visitation will be held for family and friends, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. An additional hour of visitation will take place at 12:00pm Saturday with her funeral service following at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, with Rev. Kimberly Reese officiating.
