James Christian Smithson, 69, of Findlay, passed away on October 24, 2024, at his residence. He was born on December 9, 1954, in Findlay, Ohio, to the late John C. and Mary F. (Wiseley) Smithson.
Jim is survived by his beloved daughter, Tracelin (James) Hampton; and granddaughters Charlotte and Addison Hampton. He is also survived by brother Doug Smithson, sisters: Mary (Robert) Mihaly and Elizabeth (Martin) Swartz; uncle and aunt Richard and Sandra Wiseley; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Paul Smithson. He was the grandson of Chester O. and Ruth (Barnhart) Smithson and Dr. Frank M. and Mary Charlotte (Shafer) Wiseley.
A lifelong resident of Findlay, Ohio, Jim attended Findlay Senior High School and Ohio Northern University. He spent most of his professional career at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Jim was a lover of music and science fiction, and followed news of technological innovations closely. He enjoyed amateur road racing and treasured a succession of Airedale Terriers, all named Sandy.
