James Edwin Gorrell, 73, of Findlay, passed away at 9:45pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in McComb, Ohio, on March 10, 1950 to the late Max E. Gorrell and Estella Faye Hutchinson. Jim was preceded in death by his sister Sandra Kay Gorrell and his brother Keith A. Gorrell.
Jim married Rebecca Lou Wittenmyer on June 6, 1969 and she survives. Jim is also survived by his daughter; Stacey (Scott) Moyer of Findlay and his son; Joshua James (Lindsey) Gorrell of Benton Ridge; and grandchildren, Clay (Jamie Cooper) and Abigail (Greg Osborne) Moyer, Abraham and Race Gorrell, three great grandchildren, Rohan Cooper, Pyper Moyer and Blair Osborne, four sisters-in-law; Doris Thompson, Jill Sonnett, Sally (Ray) Knight, Deb Wittenmyer and a brother-in-law, Rex (Nancy) Wittenmyer.
He was a graduate of Liberty Benton High School and was employed at Whirlpool Corporation for 42 years, retiring in 2012.
Jim was a member of The Church of the Living God, Findlay, Ohio. He attended the Upper Room Church of God for 30 plus years, where he served as an elder. He always loved to sing in the church choir and at home on his karaoke machine with family and friends. He enjoyed a good game of euchre and continental rum. It was relaxing for Jim to go out on his enclosed tractor and mow or plow, depending on the season.
Visitation will be held for family and friends from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay. A funeral service will take place at 10:00am on Saturday, February 17, 2024 officiated by Pastor Juan Salinas. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
