James Richard Disher, 90, of Findlay, Ohio died at 10:45 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Jim was born on May 26, 1934 in Crane Township, Wyandot County, Ohio to the late Ross B. and Dorothy L. (Honsberger) Disher. He married Jean M. Hintz on April 26, 1969 and she survives.
Jim is also survived by his children, Jennifer M. (William) Boice of Fostoria, Ohio and John D. (Danielle) Disher of Avon, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amani Cunningham (Shannon Yost), Alyssa Cunningham, Kyrian Kysar-Boice, Pierson Disher and Brooks Disher; and one great-grandson, Kai Cunningham; a sister, Theora M. (Thomas deceased) Cultice; nephews, the late David Cultice, Daniel Cultice, Pleasantville, New York and Nathan Cultice, Santa Barbara, California.
He was a 1952 graduate of Nevada High School; a 1956 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan with degrees in history and accounting, he earned his MBA in 1968 from Bowling Green State University. He retired from Marathon Oil Company (1956 – 1994) where he had been an accountant.
Jim was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church; the Findlay Masonic Lodge #227 F&AM, Chapter, Council, Eastern Star, Commandry and was Past Master in 1975. He had also been a member of the Fostoria Lake Plains Barbershop Chorus for over sixty-nine years.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 120 West Sandusky Street, followed by Jim’s Funeral Service. Private family burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery following the funeral lunch in the Fellowship Hall.
