Georgiann M. "Pinkie" Mihaly Obituary

Georgiann M. “Pinkie” Mihaly, 92 of Findlay, was at peace when she passed away Thursday evening, August 14, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Findlay.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 25, 1932, to the late H. George and Margaret (Bokmiller) Reeber. She was preceded in death by her brother George Reeber. She is survived by her sister Sally Hayes. Pinkie married Louis C. Mihaly on August 1, 1953, and they spent the next 65 years together, until his death on April 24, 2019.

The happy couple had seven children; Teresa, Bob (Mimi), Albuquerque, NM, Jim (Alison), Toledo, OH, John (JoAnne), Toledo, OH, Bill (Sharon), Burlington, KY, Tina (Paul) Messina, Annapolis, MD, Paul (Lori) Loveland, CO, as well as 25 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Over the years, her primary focus was on Family, both immediate and extended, and she stayed close with all of her nieces and nephews, while treating her many friends as relatives.  Pinkie was well known for thoughtfully honoring events and special occasions with a touching note and a loaf of fresh baked bread. However, her greatest joy was to watch as her children navigated through life.

Pinkie had a loving influence on all of her 25 grandchildren, and was blessed with 22 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, happily posing for a five-generation picture in July of 2023.

The Mihaly family relocated often in the early years, and this was something she embraced wholeheartedly as she raised a family in a cultured environment. They finally settled in Findlay in 1970 and have remained proud members of the community ever since.

Pinkie was active in a diverse and stimulating set of clubs and associations over the years, was well read, and had many progressive ideas. She developed a strong sense of faith as a young schoolgirl, and these beliefs never left her. As a devout member of a St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Pinkie stayed active and involved, she was known for her loving smile and ability to listen to others. Her legacy will live on through the kindness she demonstrated and shared. She will be dearly missed by all who were touched by her gentle soul.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Road from 9:00am to 11:00am on Thursday, August 21, 2025, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Private entombment will be in St. Michael Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.

In lieu of memorial contributions in Pinkie’s honor, please consider a random act of kindness for someone in need.
