Frances Poe Obituary

Frances Jean Poe, age 95 of Findlay, passed to her eternal home on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Blanchard Valley Hospital after a brief medical condition. She was born on July 16, 1926 and married the late Robert S. Poe on June 4, 1944. They had been married 74 years at the time of his passing in 2018.Surviving are her four children: Robert D. Poe of Findlay, Beverly (Jeffrey) Crawford of Fairport, NY, Lynda Benavides of Findlay, and Marcia (Paul) Parrick of Hilton Head Island, SC; nine grandchildren: Andrea Adams (Tom) Miller, Brian (Jennifer) Poe, Kristin (Nathan) Zufelt, Dustin (Jessica Murray) Wunderlich, Lauren (Matt Nevin) Wunderlich, Alyssa Wunderlich, Jed (Kristina) Crawford, Jeanna (Travis) Skinner, and Joy Crawford; fourteen great-grandchildren: Destiny (Keith) Van Horn, Devony and Demiya Miller, Ashton and Elianna Rouland, Cora and Jillian Crawford, Riley and Mallory Poe, Nola and Maya Wunderlich, Madelyn and Calvin Zufelt, and Harper Nevin; and two great-great grandchildren, Mavis and Warren Van Horn.Frances was preceded in death by her husband Robert S. Poe; her parents Joseph and Eva Habegger; four sisters: (Helen Gibbs, Reva Doty, Margaret Males, and Dorothy Zimmerman); and two brothers (Lowell and Wayne Habegger). She was the last of her generation of the Joseph Habegger family.Frances was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Findlay for over 72 years and was a long-time member of the Crusaders Sunday School class. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women's mission circles for many years and served as the Church Librarian for ten years for the Parlor library collection. She was an avid reader and even after macular degeneration limited her sight, would read the daily newspaper and her Upper Room devotionals.Frances was employed at Sears Roebuck & Co from the Findlay opening date in 1962 until her retirement 26 years later. She kept the accounting books for her husband's remodeling business for over 40 years. She also volunteered at both the Nearly New Hospital Auxiliary Shop and the Sherman House, organizing social activities for the residents. Frances and her husband kept a large garden with Frances "putting up" many fruits and vegetables over the years, and making applesauce, apple pies, and strawberry jam until her final year.Frances and her husband Bob traveled throughout the states including numerous trips to New York state visiting family. They vacationed in Hawaii for their 25th anniversary visiting Pearl Harbor where her husband had spent some time at the end of World War II. They took an Alaskan Cruise in 1994 for their 50th anniversary, and spent many weekends in southern Ohio with close friends.Visitation will take place from 4-7 PM on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave., Findlay, Ohio. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, February 6, 2022, at St. Marks United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Metzger officiating.
