David R. Simmons Jr.

David Robert Simmons Jr., 97 of Westerville, Ohio, passed away at 6:48 p.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, Ohio. David was born on October 24, 1927 in Rawson, Ohio to the late David and Leora (Crist) Simmons.

David married Marybelle Shaw on May 20, 1951 and she preceded him in death on February 4, 2013. He is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth S. “Lissa” (Lewis deceased) Wolfe of Hebron, Ohio; a son, Robert S. (Linda) Simmons of Westerville, Ohio  and five grandchildren, Jerrod (Leah) Wolfe, Jonathon (Stacey) Wolfe, Christopher (Sarah) Simmons, Steven (Sarah) Simmons and Matthew (Nichole) Simmons. He has 9 great-grandchildren.

He was a 1945 graduate of Rawson High School. He was in the Engineer Corp in the U.S. Army from September 1950 through August 1952, where he was assigned to be a part of the 531st Model Making Detail. In 1956 he graduated from the University of Toledo. He was a member of the Church of the Master in Westerville, Ohio; was a member of the F&AM #631, and enjoyed golfing.

Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 East Schrock Road, Westerville, Ohio. Additional visitation will also be held at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840 from 11:00am- 1:00pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The funeral service will begin at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Tawa Cemetery, Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio.
