Daniel B. Candler

Dan B. Candler, 89, of Findlay passed away peacefully at 7:33 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at The Heritage in Findlay. Dan was born in Dallas, Texas on Armistice Day in 1936 to the late Pat H. and Alice (Rupert) Candler. 

Dan attended Rice University and earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Carnegie Tech, now Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where he also met the love of his life, Betsy. They were married on June 12, 1966, and spent almost 60 amazing years together. She survives in Findlay.

Dan is also survived by his daughter Beth (Matt) Cogley and grandson Alex Cogley. 

Dan worked for Marathon Oil Company and loved to play bridge and tennis. He was a lover of all dogs, but especially his best boys Snooper, Toto, and Patrick. Dan attended the Kentucky Derby over fifty times. He always enjoyed the theater, especially New York, London, and the Ohio Light Opera. He also loved to travel including his favorites, the National Parks, Lake Baikal in Siberia (with Beth), Manitoba to see Polar Bears and New Zealand (with Betsy), and Route 66 (with Alex).

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. The funeral service will be private.
