Clifton Gene Babcock, son of Kenneth Elmo and Edith Marie (Bowman) Babcock threw his last pitch on December 6th, 2024, and ascended to heaven's All-Star Team. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rebecca (Pelton) Babcock and three sons: Bryan Neal (Doug Joseph) Babcock of Columbus, Timothy Allen (Sonja) Babcock of Findlay and John David (Lucy) Babcock of Grove City. To his life were added the blessing of grandchildren: Blake (Kristina) Babcock, Brooke (Tyler) Stephenson, Holly (Alec) Poling, Bryan Babcock, Elizabeth Babcock, and Grant Babcock. He is the great grandpa of Ava, Chloe, and Gavin Babcock; Carter and Quentin Stephenson; Walker and Lucy Poling. Cliff is also survived by a brother-in-law Tom Pelton; nephew Tom II (Gloria), great-nephews Caleb and Joshua; and nephew David Pelton. He is predeceased by his parents and sister-in-law Karen Pelton.
Cliff was a graduate of Bloomdale High School where he played football, basketball, baseball and was in the band. Upon graduation, he attended Bowling Green State University where he majored in Accounting and was inducted into the Accounting honorary Beta Alpha Psi. Cliff started in Marathon's Accounting Department and was part of the implementation of the company's IT Department.
A sports enthusiast, baseball was his first love. He represented Marathon in basketball and fastpitch softball competitions, played in the church basketball league, coached little league, youth football and Marathon women's softball. He played fastpitch softball locally into his fifties. For over 25 years Cliff officiated basketball, baseball, and softball. A loyal Detroit Tigers fan, he and his wife enjoyed many years of spring training games at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland, Florida. He enjoyed traveling to support his children and grandchildren in their many activities and special occasions. He and Becky continued to support Findlay High School after his children's graduations.
Cliff was a longtime member of St. Marks United Methodist Church serving in a variety of capacities.

Visitation will be Friday December 13, 2024, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave Findlay, Ohio. An additional time of visitation will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10:00am - 11:00am at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 800 S. Main St., Findlay, Ohio with the Celebration of Life to follow, beginning at 11:00am, Rev. Dan Metzger officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date.
