Clara Gertrude Shroy

Clara Gertrude Shroy, 102, daughter of Oliver and Mary (Jones) Leonard, died at 9:15 PM on October 23, 2023.  She was born May 17, 1921 in Findlay.

Clara married Robert (Bob) Shroy on October 25, 1945 in Berkeley, CA.  Bob preceded her in death after almost 69 years of marriage.

Clara is survived by four children, Robert (Gayle) of Mentor, OH, Bill of Worthington, OH, Ann (Bill) Jacobson of Jamestown, OH, and Jan (Bruce) of CO. A son, Jim, died in infancy. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Brandon, Amber, Brent, Stephanie, Jessica, Michelle and Michael as well as eleven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by brothers Lawrence of Findlay and Leo of Houston, TX and by sisters Cecilia (Flanigan) of Urbana, OH and Anna Leonard of Findlay.

Clara spent most of her life in Findlay where she was a long-time member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.  She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, antiques, sewing, gardening, and Ohio State football.  Clara and Bob enjoyed weekend camping with friends and family, and traveled internationally. She and Bob enjoyed winters in Bradenton, FL.

Visitation will be from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM Monday, October 30, 2023 at Kirkpatrick-Behnke Funeral Home, 500 Lima Ave Findlay, Ohio, followed by an 11 AM Mass Monday, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 617 West Main Cross St. Findlay, Ohio with burial at St Michael's Cemetery.

The family would like to thank longtime neighbors on Brookview Ct whose kind acts sustained Clara; Maliyah Marshall for her special caregiving; the staff at Worthington Christian Village for their compassionate support in the last two years; and Bella Care Hospice for their care in Clara's last months.
