Cathy Loraine Sanchez

Cathy Loraine (Hughes) Sanchez of Findlay went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Born on April 17, 1954 Lima, Ohio, Cathy was the daughter of the late James Harrison Hughes and Dorothy Mae Ramey Hughes.Cathy served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged. She later enrolled in Northwest Technical College, where she became a licensed practical nurse on August 20, 1993. She was married to Ricardo Sanchez on August 26, 2006. The two were happily married and together for more than 20 years.Cathy, a beloved wife, had a heart of gold and enjoyed taking care of others. She loved children; therefore, she started her daycare service called Angel's Day Care in Findlay, Ohio. In her thoughtfulness of other people, in 2005 she volunteered with the American Red Cross and went to New Orleans for two weeks to help people recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Cathy also worked as a traveling nurse.She'll be remembered for her warm smile, charm and gentle presence. In her free time, she liked to read, go on day trips to Amish Land and go across the Canadian Border for a weekend visit to the casino. Her biggest casino trip was going to Las Vegas. Cathy enjoyed collecting angel-themed bells, loved to crochet and was a talented seamstress. She made her wedding dress and all of her bridesmaids' dresses for her wedding. One of her most fond memories was when she and her husband went to their first Mexican dance at the South of the Border Festival in Perrysburg, Ohio.She is survived by her husband, her sister Cheryl Ulrich, her daughter Telia Ann Rays Smith, son James Anthony Rays, stepson Ricardo Salvador Sanchez; and grandchildren Lorenzo Salvado Sanchez, Amiah Grotrian, Alexander, Amber and Ashton Dargartz; and great-granddaughter Milana Dargartz.Cathy was preceded in death by her father James and mother Dorothy, and brothers and sisters Willis Hughes, Patsy Hughes Bayes, Emory Hughes, Betty Hughes Prater, Patricia Hughes Lawrence, Robert Hughes, James Hughes, Ronald Hughes and Klora Toni Hughes Bennett.Visitation will be held from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021, with a rosary immediately following at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, OH 45840. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Road, Findlay. Interment will be at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery with full military honors by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
