Carol Jean (Lawrence) Bishop (1932-2025): A Modest Life from such a Royal Beginning

Carol, 93, of Findlay, was a direct descendent to Sir Robert De Lawrence, who was known to have scaled the walls of Acres, and carried the Lawrence dynasty back to the year 1180. Her heritage is also heralded by Enoch Lawrence, who first settled America. Carol passed peacefully on the night of Wednesday, September 17th, 2025, with not a minute to spare to enjoy the final hours of her 93rd birthday.

Carol’s parents were Olen and Ada Melvin (Taylor) Lawrence from Columbus Grove, Ohio. Carol was married to George Franklin ‘Windy Jim’ Bishop after the pair met at a square dance in Bluffton, Ohio. Her husband preceded her in death. They had three children: Jim Bishop of Canton, Ohio; Denny Bishop of Findlay, Ohio; and Becky Bishop of Rawson, Ohio, who preceded her mother in death. Carol has seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Carol Jean was a homemaker and an educator, teaching Cory-Rawson Elementary’s 4th grade class for 25 years. She was an avid shuffleboard player with the Bluffton Shuffleboard Club and a member of United Methodist Church in Rawson, Ohio. She enjoyed her final years with new friends she met at Briar Hill Health Campus in North Baltimore, Ohio.

As a lifelong educator, Carol has taught countless generations how to live and enjoy their lives through her encouraging smile, her enduring courage, and her compassion to others. Godspeed to a life well lived and an eternal journey among the heavens."

Visitation for friends and family will be from 2:00 to 4:00pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Kirkpatrick Behnke Funeral Home, 500 lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio 45840. Remaining at the funeral home, a family sharing time will begin immediately following the visitation.
