Bonita S. (Bonnie) Shindledecker, 78, of Findlay, Ohio died September 7, 2022 at Briar Hill Nursing Home in North Baltimore, Ohio of complications from a series of medical setbacks.

Bonnie was born March 26,1944 in Harrisburg, Pa. to Army Air Corps Captain Gustav and Viola (Snell) Maury. Following World War II the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she attended local schools, graduating from Franklin High School in 1961. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Art Education.

It was at Ohio Wesleyan where she met her future husband, Tom Shindledecker (Tom Sheldon), while volunteering at the college radio station where he was student manager.

Tom and Bonnie were married June 26, 1965, in Baltimore in a ceremony officiated by Tom's father, Rev. L.A. Shindledecker. They had two children, Anne (deceased) and Steven, and seven grandchildren--Kaylene and Elizabeth (Clark) Davila, Matthew Audritsh, Hannah Blankenship, Braydon, Lexia and Ian Shindledecker and one great grandson, Aiden.

In addition to their daughter, Bonnie's parents and a brother Kenneth, are deceased.

Bonnie taught Art at Williams Valley Schools near Pottsville, Pa. from 65-66.  The couple moved to Findlay, OH in 1966 where she taught at several public and private schools, retiring in 2012 after 32 years at St. Michael School in Findlay.

Bonnie was active throughout the Findlay Community and elsewhere.  She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority at Ohio Wesleyan, a member of Journey at Christ Church, a community chorus singer with the University of Findlay and Bluffton University, Curtain Raisers and Town and Campus organizations at UF, the Fort Findlay Playhouse, Hancock Historical Museum and many others. She and Tom were big UF basketball fans.

The couple traveled extensively across four continents, visiting more than 30 countries. Both together and with their parents and children, Bonnie and Tom were privileged to spend a summer living in Salisbury, England with their daughter and Tom's parents.
