Audrice Miller Hutson died peacefully on January 23, 2022 at Taylor Place Assisted Living surrounded by her family.Born in Indian Head, Pennsylvania to Horatio and Lulu (Lohr) Miller on January 21, 1924, she was one of the seven children known to their teachers as the "Millers from the Mountain."Audrice graduated from Connellsville High School in 1942, then pursued her education at Findlay College in Findlay, Ohio as a Teacher. Throughout her time in college, she was the pianist for the Student Chapel Time that took place weekly in the Ritz Auditorium. During her practice sessions for each week's service, a certain young man named John, who was working his way through college, made sure that he was sweeping the auditorium. This young man eventually struck up a conversation with Audrice that led to marriage on June 6, 1948 and lasted for 58 years until his passing.After college, Audrice felt herself fortunate to be able to serve the educational needs of the children in the McComb and Liberty Benton school districts where she spent 30 years dedicating her life to the happiness and the future well-being of her students. She proudly received the Jennings Scholar Award and was also honored to be named a University of Findlay Distinguished Alumni.In addition to her career, Audrice participated in Delta Kappa Gamma, P.E.O. Sisterhood of Hancock County and was a dedicated member of the Hancock Retired Teachers Association. She was a lifetime member of the College First Church of God and was devoted to the Women's Ministry of the church. Audrice and John were a part of the The Preservation Guild of Hancock County as well.Audrice will be reunited with her beloved husband, John Calvin Hutson. She is survived by her four children, John Dennis (Linda); Jane Gee (Bill); Jill Hutson; Jody Hostler (Bill); and seven grandchildren, Meredith and Olivia Hutson Ferrari (Fausto); Jesse and John Gee; Chase, Woody and Katie Hostler; and two great-grandchildren, Lilyann Jane Hutson and Desmond Wolvington Gee as well as three adopted grandchildren, Nana, Yuka and Kentaro Jokura. Audrice is also survived by two sisters, Harriet Quinlan (Jim deceased) and Marjorie Bell (Hugh deceased) and preceded in death by five brothers, Lester, Paul, Wilbur, Hubert and John. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert Hutson (Nancy).Audrice will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
