Jim R. Myers, age 86 of Arlington, passed away at 11:04 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on April 23, 1934 in rural Arlington to the late Floyd B. and Irene (Robinson) Myers.
Jim was married to Jane Marie Karcher on July 19, 1958. She survives along with their 5 children: Gary Myers of Mt. Blanchard, Jeff Myers of Mt. Blanchard, Cindy (Roger) Ardner of Tiffin, Ohio, Jennifer (Howard) Mullenhour of Toledo, Ohio, and Tim (Amber) Myers of Arlington, Ohio; along with ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Mary Pilchak, Betty Reichley and Bob Myers.
Jim was a farmer in rural Arlington before entering the United States Army. Jim retired from the State of Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Meat Inspection after over 30 years.
Jim is one of the first lifetime members at Hancock County Conservation League where he held various offices.
Jim was a Lifetime Member of the NRA. He loved to go hunting and fishing. He also loved to garden and spend time with his family, especially his sons and grandsons. Jim was active many years with the Hancock County Fair where he participated in entering his vegetables. Jim very much enjoyed spending time with his friends, having coffee in Arlington.
Jim was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Pope Leo XIII Council 957 of St. Michael's Parish where he held various offices including Past Grand Knight. Jim was an active member of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish, where he was a Eucharistic Minister.
Jim was a blood donor for the American Red Cross.
He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan as well as the Cleveland Indians, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Arlington Red Devils.
Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay. Rosary service will begin at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2020 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 750 Bright Road, Findlay, Ohio with Msgr. Michael Hohenbrink celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery with rites being performed by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
