Greg R. Longworth, age 65 of Findlay, passed away after fighting a courageous battle for the past 5 months, on Thursday, January 9, 2020 5:00 p.m. at Kindred Hospital in Lima. Greg was born on August 10, 1954 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Ted R. and Betty G. (Routzon) Longworth. Greg was married to Deb Caskie on June 8, 1976 at First Christian Church and she survives. He attended Findlay High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force.
In his earlier years, Greg was a Boy Scout leader, participated in bowling leagues, and enjoyed playing church basketball and golfing. He was a fan of the Buckeyes, Browns, Cavs and Indians. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In 1987 Greg was in an automobile accident that left him quadriplegic. He remained active, coaching basketball for his children and was a member of the Findlay Evangelical Free Church. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Findlay in 2000 in Middle Childhood Education. He taught school in Dundee, Florida at Dundee Ridge Middle School.
Greg loved spending time with his family, especially his 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Surviving are his children: son Rob (Tiffany) Williams and their children Mason, Morgan and Matthew; daughter Christy (Steve) Nelsen and their son Hunter; daughter Jennifer Enck and her children, Sydney and Zech and great grandchild, Ember; son Kurt (Sabrina) Longworth and their daughters Kylee, Kennedy and Quinn; and daughter Kelly (Christopher) White and their children Bristol, Kaerigan and Willow. Also surviving Greg are two brothers: Gary (Marilyn) Longworth of Findlay and Victor (Pam) Longworth of Lebanon, Ohio. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Betty Longworth; a brother, George R. "Rusty" Longworth; a daughter, Nicole Lynn Longworth; and a grandson, Wyatt Michael Nelsen.
Visitation for friends and family will be held from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2020 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Blair Hayward officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery with military rights performed by the Hancock Veterans Memorial Squad. Memorials in Greg's honor can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
