Ruth Carolyn Haley, age 93 of Findlay, passed away peacefully at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Fox Run Manor Nursing Home. Ruth was born on June 14, 1927 in Findlay, Ohio to the late Merle A. and Myrtle M. (Plumadore) Duttweiler.
Ruth was married to Charles Keith Haley on August 31, 1949. They later divorced in 1980. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2000. Ruth is survived by a daughter, Dawn (Ralph) Mullinger of Findlay, Ohio.
Ruth was preceded in death by a brother, Don E. Duttweiler.
Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Findlay High School. She studied journalism for two years at Ohio University. While attending Ohio University, she joined the Alpha Delta Phi Sorority and has been a 60+ year member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, and local chapter Alpha Nu Master.
Ruth worked for Marathon Oil Company from 1948-1953. She worked in the general offices and also was the first editor of the new woman's page in the employees' newsletter, The Beacon, then was editor of The O-HAN-CO News. Ruth assisted with her husband's professional photography business in the 1950's. From 1973-2000 she worked as an office administrative assistant for the local Beltone Hearing Aids office and became a state licensed hearing aid dealer and fitter.
Ruth was a third generation member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church. She was a past co-teacher of the Wesley class, past leader of the Tuesday morning bible class study, past president and treasurer for United Methodist Women, and past circle leader of the Kathryn Circle of the United Methodist Women. Ruth was a past volunteer at the City Mission and the Hancock Christian Clearing House.
Ruth enjoyed traveling, art history, architecture, decorative arts, theatre, Broadway and movie musicals, ballet, history, poetry, and playing bridge. She enjoyed visiting historical and stately homes, castles and palaces, churches and art museums.
Visitation for Ruth's family and friends will be held from 2-4 & 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, Ohio. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Motter officiating. Burial will follow the service in Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay.
Face masks are highly encouraged and social distancing will be observed. Ruth's family understands if you are not comfortable attending the visitation and/or funeral during this extraordinary time.
Ruth's family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Fox Run Manor for the kind and compassionate care they provided Ruth during the past 2 1/2 years.
