James H. Schifferly, 85 of Findlay, passed away at 6:27 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center of Bowling Green. He was born on May 14, 1934 in Findlay, Ohio to Harry W. and Dovie "Dorothy" May (Daring) Schifferly.
James is survived by his wife, Christine Miracle Schifferly, whom he wed on October 26, 1952. Also surviving are one son, William (Teresa) Schifferly; two granddaughters, Shelly (Josh) Friley and Tracy Hatfield (fiance Michael VanBuskirk); two great grandsons, Isaac Hatfield and Roman VanBuskirk; and one great granddaughter, Olivia Friley.
James served three years in the United States Army, from 1957-1960. James worked for and retired from Findlay City Schools. He enjoyed fishing in Sebring, Florida. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lorida, Florida. He attended Trinity Baptist Church in Findlay. He taught American Sign Language in churches in three different states.
Visitation for friends and family of James will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2019 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME 500 Lima Ave Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the funeral home with the Rev. Michael Spann officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with military rites performed by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
