Mary L. Hooper-Thompson, age 93 of Findlay, passed away at 8:54 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at The Heritage of Findlay. Mary was born on December 6, 1925 in Hodgenville, LaRue County, Kentucky to the late Charles and Grace (DeSpain) Wheeler. As a child, she and her family moved from Kentucky to Indianapolis, Indiana.
On November 28, 1947 Mary was married to Lloyd R. "Bud" Hooper, and enjoyed a loving marriage for over 40 years. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1988. After Bud's passing, Mary wed Tom S. Thompson in 1997. Tom preceded her in death on August 4, 2018. Mary is survived by her children: David L. Hooper of Dania Beach, Florida, Dennis E. (Terri) Hooper of Findlay, Ohio, and Denise L. (Robin) Clark of Worthington, Ohio; grandchildren: Kyle (Lisa) Baker, Michael (Raina) Hooper, Joshua (Martine) Clark, Brian (Lindsey) Hooper, and Nathan (Emily) Clark; eight great grandchildren: Grace, Oliver, Gavin, Miles, Evan, Elliot, Anson, and Quinn; and siblings: John Wheeler of Hernando, Florida, and Ruby McKinnon of Hernando, Florida. Mary was preceded in death by three siblings, Eleanor Rondeau, Kenneth Wheeler, and R. Herman Wheeler. She is also survived by Tom's children: Tony Wilke, of Waterford, Wisconsin; Jeff S. (Cathy) Thompson of Katy, Texas; and Bradley B. (Karen) Thompson of Austin, Texas.
Mary was an amazing homemaker creating loving homes each of the six times the family relocated through Bud's career at Marathon Oil Company. She was an avid reader, a member of both Speedway Christian Church and First Christian Church Women's Circles, and in later life enjoyed her neighborhood's condo association gatherings. Mary also worked at Marathon Oil Company, Findlay, from 1972-1988, in the Accounting Dept., having a rewarding 16 year career after her children had left home.
Visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME 500 Lima Ave Findlay, Ohio 45840. A funeral service will follow starting at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Mary's son-in-law Robin Clark and Pastor Chris Schilling officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
