Lasley Verdell Wilkinson, 93 of McComb, entered into heaven at 10:52 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Blanchard Valley Hospital. Lasley was born on December 14, 1926 in Piggott, Arkansas to the late Harry O. and Ethel M. (Malone) Wilkinson.
On July 3, 1954 Lasley and Iris Colleen Frech eloped, marrying in Angola, Indiana. Iris preceded him in death on January 30, 2019. He is survived by their children, Debbie L. (Maurice) Mitchell of Wilmington, Ohio, Dean (Kellee) Wilkinson of Findlay, Amy (Terry) Sammet of Findlay, Linda Wilkinson of McComb, and Tricia Wilkinson of McComb; six grandchildren: Christy Mitchell, Audra Mitchell, Nicholas Mitchell, Benjamin Wilkinson, Ashley Sammet, and Tiffany Bailey; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Amy Lorell (Rex) Fishbaugh of Findlay.
He was preceded in death by brothers Everett Wilkinson, Leo Wilkinson and Harry Lindell Wilkinson; sisters, Lavada Iola Billingsley, and Thelma Wilson; and a sister who died in infancy, Velma Leola Lorene Wilkinson.
Lasley was a 1947 graduate of Van Buren High School. He served his country during World War II, from August of 1945 until January of 1947, in the United States Army. Lasley was a lifelong farmer, and also worked as a groundskeeper at the University of Findlay and for the City of Findlay, and worked at the Great Western Sugar Beet Company. Lasley was a lifelong member of the Van Buren Presbyterian Church, was a member of the Gideons, and served on the Hancock County Health Board.
Visitation for friends and family of Lasley will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME 500 Lima Ave Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Van Buren Presbyterian Church, 207 W Market St, Van Buren, OH 45889 with the Rev. Ruth Whitaker officiating. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the funeral on Tuesday, from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military rites performed by the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Squad.
