The Honorable Thomas F. Bryant, 86 of Findlay passed away at his residence on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Judge Bryant was a longtime local attorney and judge with the third district court of appeals. He was a graduate of Findlay High School, Bowling Green State University, and Ohio Northern University where he received his doctorate in jurisprudence as well as a Doctor of Law degree. He also worked for a time as a law professor at O.N.U.
Before his legal career, he served his country proudly as a member of the U.S. Army in Korea. He was an owner and operator of the Spartan Distributing Company auto parts dealership in Findlay. He was also a past chairman of the Findlay March of Dimes and chairman of the Republican Central Committee.
He was born on July 16, 1932 in Findlay to Thomas L. and Gladys "June" (Williams) Bryant. On May 1, 1954 he married Ruth M. Smith. They were divorced. On July 19, 1980 he married Sara Pettet Todd and she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his infant son Thomas F. Bryant, Jr.; his son Deputy Thomas E. Bryant; sisters Martha Bryant and Mary Morrison; and brother-in-law and close friend Robert L. Morrison. He is survived by a son, John L. (Catherine) Bryant; daughter Kelly (Guy) Pelton; grandchildren John R. Bryant, David T. Bryant, Jennifer (John) Kayser, and Thomas Jason Bryant; and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Ave Findlay, Ohio. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 128 W Hardin St, Findlay, Ohio with Pastor John Drymon officiating.
