Lorrell Mae Pfaltzgraf, 85, of Findlay, went peacefully home at 8:02 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Birchaven Village. Lorrell was born on January 27, 1933 in Germantown, Pennsylvania near Philadelphia to the late Winfield and Lorraine (Kern) Wenger. On November 14, 1953 Lorrell married Ralph E. Pfaltzgraf and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1975. Lorrell was a graduate of Audubon High School in Audubon, New Jersey and also a graduate of The St. Lukes Hospital Nursing School in Bethlehem, PA. She was the loving and devoted wife to Ralph E. Pfaltzgraf whom she met by pure chance on a train while he was on leave from the Navy on Christmas Eve. She was an avid gardener and member of the Findlay Garden Club and Con Coors Findlay C.C.L. She was also a member of Findlay Evangelical Free Church. Her working career included, supporting her husband when she became the President of Riegel Provision Company in 1975. In addition she worked at Marathon Oil Company as an R.N. before partaking on a 10 year career at Blanchard Valley Hospital. She became an avid golfer as a member of the Findlay Country Club. She had an adept short game but scored 4 holes in one. The most famous of which was during the member and 3 guests competition, where as the only female member team, went on to win that event in 1990. She was a staunch advocate of rights to non exclusive policies, that opened a pathway of obtaining respect in private male only member golf clubs. This centerpiece achievement was established by the Board of Directors vote abolishing such policy in 2001. She will be missed by her sons Charles (Cindy) Pfaltzgraf of Columbus, Ohio; Edward (Susan) Pfaltzgraf of Palm Desert California and Timothy (Grace) Pfaltzgraf of Buchtel, Ohio, and her sister, Marilyn Mandalay of Pittsburgh, PA. Her oldest son Stephen George Pfaltzgraf predeceased her in 2008. The family wishes to extend its utmost respect and deep gratitude to the nurses and staff at Birchaven Village of Findlay, Ohio for providing her with such great care over the past 8 years.
