Barbara Jean (nee Lowry) Wisner, 89, passed away on December 17, 2018 at 5:20 a.m. at Birchaven Village. She was born on March 10, 1929 in Canton, MS to Horace and Barbara Ellen Lowry. While attending Findlay High School, Barbara met her future husband, George A. Wisner. They were married on June 20, 1948 in Findlay, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 2007. She is survived by her sons, Mark (LeAnne), Neal (Cindy), Brian (Teal), and a daughter, Karen. Barbara is also survived by grandson Mason, granddaughters April, Shelbi, Eliscia, Lowry; great granddaughters Aubree, Kelsie and Jordyn; great grandson Jackson; and beloved nieces and nephews. Her brothers, Robert, and twins Richard and Radon Lowry preceded her in death. Barbara's family moved north from Mississippi to Maryville, TN, and then to Belmore, OH. Barbara and her mother settled in Findlay in 1944. Barbara and George graduated from Findlay High School together in 1946. Barbara had several jobs, including running errands for National Refining Company, selling gloves for Patterson's Department Store, and creating window displays for Patterson's and Britts Department Store. Barbara was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church, a past president of Hancock Regional Planning Commission, past charter member and president of Evergreen Branch, Women's National Farm and Garden Association, served 4 years on Findlay Council of Planned Parenthood of NW Ohio, member of Friends of the Old Mill Stream, member and past president League of Women Voters of Findlay, OH, appointed to the executive board of Human Services in 1994, and was a volunteer worker for Salvation Army, Findlay Hancock County Public Library book cellar, and as a docent at the Mazza Museum-University of Findlay. Barbara's spare time was filled with birding, painting, and creating unusual pieces of art. She and George liked to travel, particularly to the mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina. The family would like to thank the staff of the Memory Care unit of Birchaven Village for their compassion and care of their mother. Visitation for family and friends of Barbara will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Ave. Findlay, Ohio 45840, and also from 12 Noon until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019. A short funeral service will follow visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mazza Museum at the University of Findlay, 1000 North Main Street, Findlay, Ohio; the Findlay- Hancock County Public Library, 206 Broadway, Findlay, Ohio; or the Alzheimer's Association, Northwest Ohio Chapter, 480 W.
