Cora A. Layaou, 90 of Findlay passed away at 6:10 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center. She was born in Athens, Ohio on May 9, 1929 to the late William C. and M. Grace (Schellenger) Merten. She leaves behind her son, Michael W. Layaou of Findlay.
Cora graduated from the Ohio University, Athens, OH and the Carnegie Library School, Pittsburgh, PA. In 1950, she enlisted in the Army WACs in Toledo, OH and received an honorable discharge in 1953 at Fort Knox, KY. She had a long career as a librarian, first as an army librarian in Korea, as a librarian in California, then as a librarian at Ohio Northern University for 20 years, and lastly she retired from the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library. She was a volunteer at the Humane Society of Hancock County.
In accordance with Cora's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery. KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 Lima Avenue, Findlay, OH 45840 is assisting with arrangements.
