Sarah M. Dorsey, age 96, of Findlay, passed from this life into the presence of God on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Fox Run Manor. She was born in Findlay on July 11, 1922 to the late Orla and Florence (Bennett) Cooper.
On June 29, 1948, she married the Rev. Morton Dorsey at St. Marks United Brethren Church of Findlay. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1983.
Surviving Sarah are her four daughters: Marg (Jim) Marshall, Racine, OH, Patricia (Billy) Perrelli, Ormond Beach FL, Liz (Tom) Hill, Windermere, FL, and Janie (Terry) Emrick of Findlay; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her two sisters, Gertrude Cooper and Ruth Miller, and grandson Hyperion Marshall. She graduated from Findlay High School, Class of 1940, and from Chicago Evangelistic Institute in Chicago, IL (Vennard College) in 1947.
After high school, Sarah worked at Ohio Oil company (Marathon). Blessed with the gift of music, during college she sang with George Beverly Shea on his Chicago radio show Club Time in his back-up trio. After marriage, Sarah traveled with her husband and was an integral part of his ministry as a pastor and evangelist. When Rev. Dorsey was the president of Ohio Christian University, (formerly Circleville Bible College) Sarah taught music and directed the college choir.
Upon her husband's death, Sarah returned to Findlay and worked at Blanchard Valley Hospital until the age of 81.
Most important in Sarah's life was her faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Other loves were her family, friends, books, and her beloved Buckeyes (we all know her prayers made the difference in the close games). She was a football season ticket holder for the Findlay Trojans until age 94.
Sarah's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Fox Run Manor for their care and love for Sarah. They were there for her when the family could not be. Also, thank you to J Ladd and Nancy Oman for keeping Mom's hair and nails beautiful. Words cannot express how much that means.
Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 800 South Main Street, Findlay, OH 45840, where Sarah was a lifetime member.
