Dorothy Young Obituary

Dorothy Mae "Doti" Young, age 77, formerly of Archbold, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2024, with family by her side. She was born on May 31, 1946 in Rushville, Indiana, the daughter of Mildred "Sue" (McClendon) and Raymond Sullivan.

Doti married Michael "Mike" Young on October 19, 1967. They divorced in 1985.

Doti attended schools in Alquina and Connersville, Indiana. She graduated from Connersville High School in 1965, and from Miami-Jacobs College (Dayton) in 1967 with an Associates Degree in Accounting. She met lifelong friends Peggy (Bey) and Andy Green while attending college.

She worked in Archbold and Bryan as a Registered Sales Assistant and Insurance Agent for 13 years. Doti also worked in loss prevention and was an assistant store manager at Elder Beerman in Defiance, and JByrons and Burdines in Florida.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Alicia; her grandson, Dylan; special friends, Rose Ann Bott of Maumee, Sandy Frazier and Jenny Graber of Archbold. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Ray Sullivan, and brother, Robert Sullivan.

Doti found spiritual purpose and strength in helping others, especially within the congregations of St. Peters Church of Archbold where she taught CCD classes and served on the Parish Council and St. Michael's Church as a Eucharistic Minister, helping insurance clients, and volunteering with the Archbold FISH Pantry.

Doti loved to travel and planned a family vacation every year. Her family camped in state parks throughout the East coast and Midwest. When Alicia was older, they often took long weekend trips to Toronto, Chicago, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Doti loved to visit small towns and festivals, attend concerts and theater, listen to music, dance, read, make pottery, paint and do crafts, animals, work in her yard, and spend time with family and friends. Her fondest memories were those shared with her daughter and grandson.

All friends and family are welcome to attend a memorial Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Downtown Chapel, 617 W. Cross St, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM. A Celebration of Life will be held following Mass at KIRKPATRICK-BEHNKE FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Lima Ave., in Findlay, from 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM. There will be no visitation before the service and a private burial will take place at a later date.
